Crystal Waters Permaculture Ecovillage is set in 650 acres of bushland at the headwaters of the Mary River, only 26kms from Maleny or Woodford. The Village includes privately-owned residential lots and co-operatively owned commercial properties, and was designed along permaculture principles.

Crystal Waters aerial-view-2016The Village is classified ‘Land for Wildlife’ and is an Australian wildlife sanctuary. We’re home to a wide variety of local flora and fauna, including numerous kangaroos and wallabies, and many types of birds and reptiles. We share our land with nature and believe that our ‘No Cats & Dogs’ policy has created this environment, which is conducive to nature and provides us with a peaceful living experience.

With over 250 people of all ages living in Crystal Waters, and hundreds more in the local area around Conondale, Witta and Maleny, many of us enjoy regular events on our Village Green or on ‘The Deck’.

+ The popular monthly Village Markets are held the 1st Saturday morning of the month and are a great way to experience our village atmosphere. A variety of market stalls pepper the Village Green, complementing our great musical talent. Meals are also available.

+ Visit the Flowerpot Coffee Shop for breakfasts on Market days, Saturdays, and throughout the week.

+ A range of venues and spaces are available for hire at Crystal Waters for permaculture projects, or your next workshop, celebration, or wedding.

+ Crystal Waters administration has both a Body Corporate to manage common property, Roads, Dams and Land Management plus a Community Co-operative that runs the Community areas and Eco Park camping areaVillage Markets and an annual Permaculture Design Course (PDC).

Q Visiting Crystal Waters

As Crystal Waters is a wildlife sanctuary, it is highly recommended to take a guided tour, or stay with one of our accommodation providers.

Many species of birds as well as kangaroos and wallabies abound at Crystal Waters. Self-guided tourists and day trippers driving through the property increase the chances of injury or death to our native fauna, and also disturb the peaceful enjoyment of our residents. Please refrain from driving through Crystal Waters for these reasons.

If you do drive, please keep within our speed limits of 30 km/hr, and remember that people and animals always have right of way. If kangaroos or wallabies are near your vehicle, anticipate sudden movements. Watch the eyes, and which direction the nose and ears are pointed. That's where they are going to jump.

Crystal Waters also has a 'no dogs or cats' policy, so please leave dogs at home when you are visiting.
